Brazilian mobile operators oppose Starlink taking full S-band spectrum

In an Anatel public consultation, Telefónica, Claro, Omnispace and Unifique opposed granting Starlink the full 30+30 MHz of S-band it requested for direct-to-device service, citing competition and fee disparities. On 9 October 2026 Anatel granted Starlink 15+15 MHz, half the 30+30 MHz requested, with part of it only until June 2029.
