Iran's parliament passed legislation in June 2025 criminalising unlicensed satellite internet such as Starlink; the law, later approved by the Guardian Council, sets prison terms for possession or use and allows the death penalty where use is deemed espionage or hostile (Intellinews, The Algemeiner).
